Jillian chose a strategic communication major for its flexibility.
What did you decide to pursue your major?
My instructor Allison Steinke said it best, "A strategic communication major is so flexible." The opportunities which have been granted to me are exactly why I decided to go the route of a Strategic Communication major. Everything I've observed and learned as a Hubbard student has and will set me up for the rest of my career endeavors.
What has been your favorite part of your experience at the Hubbard School?
The instructors alone have made my experience at the Hubbard School so fulfilling and enjoyable. I have yet to meet one professor who isn't incredibly dedicated to making sure you have everything you need to succeed and then some.
Which course or professor would you recommend to other students in your major?
Choosing just one course or professor is so tough as I have so much respect for each of my instructors. I have to say Jill Bonham is an incredible mentor, professor, and person overall. She makes each of her students feel heard in such a personal way which is so rare in a college environment.
What minors, internships, or activities are you pursuing outside of your major? How do you think these enhance your majors and/or your future career plans?
For the past year and a half I have had the pleasure of working for Schuler publicity. The doors this internship has opened for me are far beyond anything I could’ve imagined. Whether it be through my connections of media personalities to c-suite executives, my gratitude for this position is an understatement.
What advice do you have for future Hubbard School students?
Try! Try! Try! The more you get out and experience - the more you'll gain. The opportunities to connect and advance your network are endless at Hubbard and I implore you to take full advantage.
What is one aspect of your major that has surprised you?
All Hubbard faculty wants you to thrive for you become a better version of yourself more than you could've ever imagined.
