Steinberg received second place in the Feature Writing Category.
The Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication extends its congratulations to student Jake Steinberg. Steinberg earned second place in the 2018-19 Hearst Journalism Awards Program for Feature Writing.
Jake received this honor for his City Pages Minneapolis feature story "The Miracle of Finland: What a Tiny Northern Minnesota Town can Teach America." He receives a $2,000 scholarship along with his second place win.
More than 100 undergraduate journalism programs at universities across the nation are eligible to participate in the Hearst Awards Program, and more than 150 feature writing entries were received in this competition from 85 schools.
The Hearst Journalism Awards Program is conducted under the auspices of accredited schools of the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication and fully funded and administered by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation. The 14 monthly competitions consist of five writing, two photojournalism, one radio, two television and four multimedia, with Championship finals in all divisions. The program awards up to $700,000 in scholarships and grants annually.
