Major: Strategic Communication
Minor: Leadership
Graduation Semester/Year: Fall 2024

What organization did you intern with?
This summer (2024), I had the opportunity to intern at broadhead, an advertising agency based in Minneapolis.

Where is it located?
The agency is located in the North Loop area of downtown Minneapolis.

How did you find out about the internship?
I initially heard of broadhead through its reputation among the top agencies in the city. My interest deepened after attending their workshops and connecting with employees, which gave me valuable insight into their work culture and the opportunities they offer.

What were your responsibilities?
As a client services intern, I was immersed in client billing, communication, and project facilitation. I gained hands-on experience working directly with clients and helping manage key aspects of agency operations.

What did you enjoy most?
I loved connecting with people across different departments and witnessing how all the moving parts came together to produce exceptional work. I also discovered a new interest in new business development, which was an unexpected but exciting part of my internship experience.

What is something that you learned from your internship experience?
One key lesson was that teamwork truly makes the dream work. Leaning on others who have strengths in areas where I may not excel was invaluable—not just in terms of learning but also in accomplishing goals. I also learned the importance of asking questions without fear, embracing the idea that not knowing everything is a pathway to learning more than I ever imagined.

How will your internship help you in your future studies/career?
My time at broadhead provided me with skills in time management, prioritization, and engaging with challenging opportunities. It also gave me a boost of confidence in my abilities as a professional, while refining my vision for my career goals. The connections I made will continue to be influential as I move forward in my professional journey.

What is one piece of advice you would give other students about securing an exciting internship?
Lead with excitement! Approach the internship search with optimism—it will show in your conversations, whether in informational interviews, workshops, or other interactions. This enthusiasm helps you ask insightful questions and engage meaningfully, making a lasting impression while demonstrating your eagerness to learn and contribute.
